Intermittent fasting (IF) is an eating pattern that cycles between periods of fasting and eating. It doesn't specify which foods you should eat, but rather when you should eat them. Beyond weight loss, intermittent fasting can have powerful effects on your brain, cellular health, and longevity.
1. What Are the Most Popular Methods?
There are several different ways of doing intermittent fasting. The most popular is the 16:8 method, which involves skipping breakfast and restricting your daily eating period to 8 hours, then fasting for 16 hours in between. Another is the 5:2 diet, which involves eating normally 5 days of the week while restricting calories to 500–600 on the other 2 days.
